Thinking about a custom couture gown?

What does couture really mean?

Couture is paying attention to details, so the total is the best it can be.  It is when fashion becomes the art that is conceived by a discerning designer with an eye for what is unique and beautiful.

Couture is the work of artisans who love to build beautiful sculpted garments for clients who appreciate the intimate fit of a finely sewn garment.  Designed with their specific ideas and vision in mind, it is crafted using mastered techniques from the experience and vision of the seamstress.  Using their love and understanding of textures, fabric and their discipline of precision patternmaking, they can create what others can only imagine.

Today, haute couture is an aesthetic essay in which cherished and extraordinary skills continue to be practiced in service of a late modern age.  It is, as it began, a dream of quality in an era of industry.  Couture persists in providing us with a paragon of the most beautiful clothing that can be envisioned and made in any time.

V Custom Design brings you “couture” in the truest sense.  The finest craftsmanship executed by skilled and loving hands expressing the dream of a lifetime.

While we can work with most timelines, planning ahead eliminates stress so allow 4-5 months for your wedding gown to be made.  Collecting photos of necklines, sleeves, skirts and details to bring to your consultation helps you communicate with your designer.

Our designers will educate and help you in the selection of fabrics and laces, as well as help you determine what style works best for your body.

Do you have your dress and need alterations?

What you should know about alterations.

Alterations are almost always needed on manufactured bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses.  Each designer cuts their dresses to a set of standard measurements.  Even if you measure exactly into those measurements chances are adjustments will need to be made to get the perfect fit.

Unlike the clothes we normally wear, much more time and tailoring goes into your bridal gown and the cost of alterations should be taken into account when setting a budget.  It is the difference between having to battle with your dress on your wedding day or having a gown that looks like it was made for you and only you.

Plan your first alteration fitting about a month and a half before your wedding, allowing 2-3 weeks between fittings.  Generally bridal gowns and bridesmaids only need two fittings, the initial consultation and pinning followed up with a final try on and pick up.  The extra time allows for any little changes that could be needed.  Please be aware that you will need your shoes as well as any undergarments for your fittings.
